members expressed con cern about the forthcom
ing reorganisation of Lan cashire’s library districts. Their comments fol
lowed the regular report from district librarian Miss
Barbara Snell, updating the committee on borrow
ing figures, reference enquiries and special events in local libraries. b Conn. Ted Boden (Chat-
urn) complimented Miss Snell on her report and
e x c c 11 c n t w o r k a n d inquired whether the council had received a reply to its request that the Kibble Valley retain its district librarian under the changes. "It’s essential that this service is maintained to a
very high standard. If that response was in the nega tive, then I would propose th a t we w ri te again expressing our strong views for the retention of our district librarian who, as we can see from her report tonight, has built up a service which is second to none,” he said. When to ld th a t a

to Kibble Valley Borough Council on three occasions to provide space for an animal corner near the museum, but while councillors have applauded Mr Rushton’s initiative in bringing the idea furward, it has not been supported. Mr Kushlon would like to hear from anyone with
