A COOPFUL of knitted chicks was created by elderly residents from a local home to raise funds for Leukaemia Research. Residents of the Manor House, Chatburn, knitted


a total of -10 dozen cliicKs, which were later sold to their friends and family. The residents learnt how to make the small Huffy chicks during handicraft lessons held at the home. In addition to the sale of the chicks, a coffee after­


noon was held at tile end of March to bring the total raised to JDM-I. A variety of stalls provided custom­ ers with mouthwatering cakes, colourful flowers, hot cross buns and a bran tub for the children. All proceeds were presented to the Clitheroe and


District Leukaemia Research Association by the hard-working residents. The association’s secretary, Mrs .loan Hall, thanked them for knitting the chicks and all their efforts to sell them. The association’s next event will he a cream tea sale at Waddow Hall on Monday, when everyone is
