Country crafts on display at village fayre

v i tie s an d d isp lay s . The crowd-pleasing occasion on Sunday was the
fifth annual West Bradford Country Craft Fayre, with action centred round an arena, a marquee and
tlie village hall. Performing inside the arena were Accrington Pipe
Band, Clitheroe Karate Club, Pendle Drum Majorettes and a birds of prey team. Activities along the perimeter included street jug-
•ders vintage tractors and a ducking stool. One ot the most popular attractions was a wood-carving workshop with former Ribble Valley sculptor-in-resi- dence Thompson Dagnall. Complementing his woik
was a wire sculpture demonstration. The marquee was the hub of the crafts fayre and
sale, with stalls featuring everything from jewel
lery sugarcraft and paintings to fly-tying. Inside the village hall, the competition in the pro
duce and handicrafts show was fierce. Among the dozens of sections were baking, n e ed le woik,
photography, flower arranging and dressed veget ables The overall adult winner was Mrs M. Woods
