PROPOSAL TO DECLARE A PUBLIC HIGHWAY TO BE NO LONGER MAINTAINABLE AT PUBLIC EXPENSE - ALMA PLACE, CLITHEROE


Pursuant to the Highways Act 1980 Section 47, the Magistrates Court for the petty sessional division of Ribble Valley, acting by 3 Magistrates being members of the Court, has viewed the highway known as Alma Place, Clifheroe, (ON THE APPLICATION OF THE LANCASHIRE COUNTY COUNCIL), and Is of the opinion that there is ground for the applicalion; and the application Is that so much of the highway, being a total area of 213 square metres, Is unnecessary (or public use and therefore ought not to be maintained at the public expense.


The Court is of the opinion that the application ought to be proceeded with.


The purpose ot the proposal is to de-adopt the area so as to remove design constraints on surfacing materials and street furniture. The public right of way is to be maintained albeit In a different configuration.


A copy of the Map showing the proposal may be Inspected, free of charge, at all reasonable hours, at my offices and at the offices of the Ribble Valley Borough Council, Council Offices, Church Walk, Clitheroe, until the date of the Hearing.
