with star concert
THE “Christmas Star” will be shining brightly at Trinity Methodist Church. Clitheroe, a week on Saturday, when the North Lancashire Methodist Dis trict .is staging a bumper musical event. There
will.be a 130-
s trong choir and an orchestra of *10, with about
a third of all those taking p a r t e o in i n g f r o in
Clitheroe. The concert, entitled Christmas Star," marks
the beginning of the fes tive season and is the third of its kind to take place in Clitheroe. Musicians are gathering
from many parts of Lanca shire and elsewhere and
choirs from Morecainbe, C leveleys, St Amies, Rishton,' Wilpshire and Burnley are involved. Many young people are taking part in both the choir and orchestra. Tlie final rehearsal will
take the form of a music workshop day tit Trinity, before the concert in tile

Museum of Childhood. He left behind his image as Derek Wilton, the
school caretaker in TV’s “Coronation Street,” to travel to tlie Ribble Valley last week to attend tlie preview of a selection of liis collection of miniature
theatres tit tlie Museum. 'I'lie event was attended by invited guests, includ
ing the Mayor and Mayoress of tlie Kibble Valley,
Conn. John Travis and his wife Elizabeth. While lie was there, tlie actor signed copies of his
new book, “’Toy Theatres of tlie World.’ His collection of toy theatres lias been exhibited at
tlie National Theatre in London and is now on display at tlie museum along with a number of new exhibits, including a Victorian Punch and Judy theatre and tlie Tony Brindle Marionette Theatre Puppets.
