Both local women trav­ elled to Condon last Tuesday for a glamorous awards ceremony at Claridges, where Mrs Collinson was named one of 20 national win­ ners. She had the added delight of being the y o u n g e s t w o m a n present.

She eventually joined Tosco in 19S9, working at the Norwich and Skipton stores, before landing the number two position at the Chorley branch last spring.


She comes originally from Great Harwood, where the seeds of success were planted during a part-time job as a teen­ ager at a local grocer’s. On leaving school, Mrs Collinson entered a two- y ear tra in in g p r o - g r a m m e w i t h Sainsbury’s.


Mrs Coliinson, who hopes to.become the next female general manager of a Tesco store, cer­ tainly fits the bill, con­ sidering there are only four women holding the position out of 400 stores across the country.
