IT was a case of “tree cheers” for the Forestry Commission in Chipping as 120 saplings were planted. The commission donated the saplings, which were
was attended by the Mayor and Mayoress of the Rib- ble Valley, Conn, and Mrs Allan Kay, who have shown great interest in the scheme. Also present was Mr Mike Ingleby, the commission’s forestry officer at Dunsop Bridge. Our photograph shows the Mayor launching the planting scheme.

PLANS to build an ice cream shop and tea room in Gisburn have been deferred, after Kibble Val ley Council’s Planning and Development Committee heard reservations — from both the borough and par ish councils — that the scheme might attract more traffic to the village. The meeting was told
