BUSINESS whizzkids from three Ribble Valley schools have come up trumps following a major Christmas sale. The special fair, held outside the United Reformed Church in

Clitheroe, involved St Augustine’s RC High School, Billington, and two schools from Longridge and attracted none other than the Home Secretary, Mr David Waddington. ■ Mr Waddington, a confirmed supporter of the scheme, was impressed by the standard of goods on sale.

Scheme, a nationwide project encouraging schools to set up profit making businesses run by the pupils.

All those involved are taking part in the Young Enterprise

St Augustine’s not only had a busy day selling ceramic orna ments, but also won a cheque for £5 for having the best display.

, Our picture shows the enterprising, pupils holding the winning cheque, with Mr Waddington watching.
