Choosing the dress of your dreams
ONCE the wedding date has been set, the church or register office booked, and the reception planned, every bride must get down to the really serious business — that of choosing her wedding gown!
Sounds wonderfully sim
ple doesn’t it? Indeed, it can be just that. And if you’re the sort of clear- thinking woman who knows just where to find it — then you may wonder why so much fuss is made about “The Dress”. For the majority of

A fashion bonanza for guests
If you would like your wedding album to give you long-lasting pleasure through the decades ahead, it is worth giving some thought, not only to what the “principals” of the show plan to wear for your big day, but everyone else as
well.
For example, if you have taken great care that the bridesmaids’ outfits will complement your dress, what about those chosen by mothers, sisters, etc. But a word of warning before you start your efforts to
u
avoid a garish mix of reds and oranges, or too much sensible navy blue — which will not look good in
photographs. Making too-definite suggestions to a future mother-in-
law may be a bit tricky for a start. A bit of diplomacy will go a long way here and, in
any case, the sooner it is learned by a new bride the better. Choosing what colour to wear is often the subject
of discussion anyway, particularly among close family so, hopefully, clashes can be avoided anyway. Something equally unnerving, though, is for two
guests — again close family in particular — to arrive wearing exactly the same shade. It has always struck me as odd that there doesn’t
seem to be much discussion in the Royal family about Ascot, for example, as almost every year two of the Royal ladies arrive wearing the same colour. This year it was the Queen and the Princess Royal in
yellow and, although both looked stunning, it did stand out.
