Lifeline system
arouses interest
THE Ribble Valley Coun cil has had nine firm requests for the Piper Lifeline, which provides 24-hour security for the eld e r ly and disabled. There have also been 33 inquiries requesting more information about the system. The council held an
exhibition and demonstra tion of the communication system, which provides emergency help at the push of a button. It can be installed in any
home and is linked to a control centre in Hynd- burn, which is manned 24 hours a day. Staff there can respond by calling out the emergency services, a friend or local warden. The system also pro
vides an effective alarm against intruders. The Piper Lifeline is to
be extended to all council- owned property for senior citizens in the Ribble Val ley within the next two years and officials are hop ing that private house holders will come forward and use the system. There is a fee for installation in private households.
