A PLANNING application for additional bedroom accommoda tion, an extension to the bar and lounge and conversion of a barn to a conference and ban queting centre, with ear park ing, for Mytton Fold Farm, Biilington, has been lodged with the Ribble Valley Coun cil’s Planning Department (number 0078). Drivers fall foul of new parking laws

NOTICES of £5 charges have been issued to 186 mo t o r i s t s who have flouted the new car park ing order in Clitheroe — since its introduction last December.

But Ribbl e Va l l ey

Council Chief Executive and Town Clerk, Mr Michael Jackson, says that the word is getting about regarding more careful policing of the car parks by an efficient warden, and the two hour in three l imi t was now be ing adhered to.

is awaiting the comments of the Clitheroe and Dis trict Chamber of Trade before discussions — on the possibility of introduc ing car parking charges - can take place. Meanwhile, Coun. John

Cowgill is asking whether the local authority could look into providing a hou seholder’s permit for car parking in areas such as Brennand Street and St Mary’s Street. There, residents could

not park their vehicles outside their own homes because people working in the town were taking up all the space available, he said.

A WHALLEY man’s attempts to break up a fight outside a nightclub landed him in Clitheroe Magistrates' Court accused of drunk and disorderly behaviour.

Austen Daniel Ellison

(22) , of Green Park, admitted the offence and was fined £50.

The court heard that

police officers twice told a group of youths to move on after they had congre gated outside Rio’s, Whal ley, in the early hours of the morning.

The youths had been

causing a disturbance and eventually a fight broke out, involving Ellison.

The defendant told the

court he had originally been trying to break up a fight, but became involved himself when a punch was swung at him.
