. Prompting these changes is the need to ensure that existing educational programmes are not weakened during a period of falling pupil numbers and to provide a- wider range of courses for 16-19 year olds. With adaptation and enlarge ment, the premises of the present girls' grammar school will accommodate the pupils age 11-16. The present boys qrammar school premises, with suitable adaptations, will be used for 16-19 year olds. The separate nature of the sixth form will be reflected in the staffing arrangements, which wi»

■ oive a team of senior teaching staff concerned wholly with workinq with 16-19 year olds. It is intended by the Governors that as soon as it becomes practicable to do so, the sixth form will be established as a completely separate entity from th e 11-16 part of the grammar school, with its own Govern ing Body and Headteacher. Timing on this further change

‘ would depent upon the growth and development work of the

sixth form. Initially, there would be one GoverningBodyand one Headteacher with overall responsibility for both 11-16

2 Amalgamation of the two grammar schools will take place at Z; foe beginning of 'foe 1984/85 school year when boys , and aids win be admitted at age 11 to the present girls' premises. Careful arrangements'will be made to safeguard the inter ests of pupils attending the grammar schools prior to the amalgamation. Pupils will generally be able to complete their

- pupils and sixth form. . . ...

' courses in their existing premises. Changes in provision f9r 16-19 year olds will be made mainly as accommodation in ■ the present boys' premises becomes - available for this

q Admissions at age 11 will be based upon a system of 3' oarental preferences, subject to the availability of places and
