station on fell
A PROPOSAL to site a new police radio station at Wadclington Fell, at a cost of over £150,000 has been given the go-ahead by Lancashire County Coun cil’s Police Committee. At present part of East
Lancashire is served from | a station near Hellifield. But when there is a I change to new frequencies in 1989 this will be inade quate. Also, because of distance, the Hellifield station is expensive to service, has insufficient accommodation and, from June, North Yorkshire County Council is increas ing the site rent from £300 to £2,500 a year. The operation at Wad-
Park at the Door ,
dington will cost £107,000 for building works and £65,000 for an aerial mast. The Regional Health
Authority, Fire Brigade and other bodies are also interested in using the new station and paying [ towards the cost.
