ALTHOUGH most of the side had not previ­ ously played together, the Ribble Valley League produced a sound performance to defeat the Nelson League in an inter-league game played at Calderstones.


Valley took the lead


with an own-goal that Nelson conceded after a period of strong pressure, and Steve Neary made it 2-0 just before the break. Nelson pulled one goal


back b e fo r e Andy McClean scored Valley’s fourth goal from a free kick. Steve Neary made it 4-1 in the 75th minute but Nelson scored again just


before the end. The Ribble Valley Lea­
