shop in Moor Lane, which is still in the family to this day. Lord’s shoe shop was run for many years by Ken’s parents John and Lily and is now operated by his brother Bernard.
In ' 1900, his grandfather took over a shoe
ness, he certainly wasn’t short of sources and advice.
So when Ken decided to open his own busir Ken trained as a mechanical and production
engineer at night school and moved from Clitheroe to Padiham on his marriage to Jean in 1963. They both worked at the Mullard . Simonstone plant at the time and it was then th a t they established their link with the Padiham Round Table and Ladies’ Circle.
They are both former chairmen of their
respective organisations and Jean is currently North Lancashire area chairman of the Nation al Association of Ladies’ Circles.
lived at Edisford for six years before moving to Cheshire. After two years there, they returned to Clitheroe and moved into their current home in Park Avenue, with Ken taking up a post as a s s is tan t factory manager a t Lancaster Hosiery, where he worked for three years: before going into business by himself.
The couple moved to Clitheroe in 1968 and Now in his last year as a Round Tabler,
having reached the age of 40, Ken is a member of Clitheroe Golf Club and recently served on the Clitheroe Parish Church restoration com-' mittee. He is also involved with the Ribble Valley Hospice appeal and is to run a street- market to raise funds for the cause next summer.
