Smith, who is treasurer of the Clayton-le-Dale and district Cancer Research campaign, and Mrs Ruth Wood, who has been a collector for the past 18 years, have been pre sented with silver certifi cates by the Duke of De vonshire. The certificates, to
gether with those to six other voluntary campaign members, were presented because of the remarkable increase in the total col lected, £36,000 having been amassed in the Blackburn area. Another member, Mrs
Marjorie Fryer, has gone forward to the third round of a ladies bowling championship with a chance to win £2,000.
