CLITHEROE Young Farmers opened their autumn session with a lighthearted sports evening at West Bradford playing fields.
More than 50 members tried their skill in- games of rounders and
football. Afterwards there was a short business meeting. The next diary, date for the Young. Farmers,is Saturday, ■

HOW does a bowling club celebrate the Royal Wedding? Naturally, by holding a tournament! The wielders of the woods at Clitheroe Crick
et Club decided they would stage a mixed doubles handicap, with wedding souvenir gob
lets and ashtrays as prizes. Twenty-four players .took part, the winners
being Mr N. Windle and Mr B. Edmundson. Runners-up were Mrs A. Riley and Mr H.
Taylor. The prizes were presented by Mrs Pat Wild,
whose husband, Norman, is chairman of the bowling section. She is seen'behind the table
• on the right, with the players and helpers. During the afternoon there was a break for
refreshments. Thanks to all those who helped make the tournament a success were expressed by Mr E. Hothersall.

WIDER ENTRY
THE Ribble Valley Coun cil is. making no objections to the widening of the end entrances to the grounds of Clitheroe Hospital.
The council has decided
this after being told that only two trees will have to be removed. There is no threat to any other trees.
Purpose of the widening
is to make it easier for the drivers of heavy ar ticulated vehicles to negotiate the entrances.
