CHILDREN of the staff at Calderstones raised a cheer for the Royal couple at > a party in The Crescent, Mitton Road, Whalley. The youngsters enjoyed a fancy dress competition, tea and games. Also popular were rides on a cart pulled by Dinky, the pony, owned by Mr Robert Geldard, of Railway View, Billington, and brought along by his son, hospital porter Mr David Geldard.

ALTHOUGH arranged only the previous day, a street party at Queensway Waddington, attracted more than 100 children, parents and senior citizens. There was a Jacobs join party tea featuring a red, white and blue wedding , cake provided by one of the organisers, Mrs Eileen Shuttlcworth. A fancy dress competition, games and a can-can contest for. children and ladies provided a touch of hilarity. Among the guests were Ribble Valley Mayor and Mayoress Coun. and Mrs John Walmsley, who brought sweets for the youngsters. At a disco which followed, the children were served with soft drinks and their parents sampled home-made wine.

It featured a Royal procession with brother and sister Jac­ queline (14) and Harry (13) Stirzaker as the happy couple. There were races, party prizes and the gift of crowns. Parents celebrated with a house party in the evening.
