BELOW: In Crowtrees Road, Sabden, more than 130 children and adults enjoyed a wide selection of party fare and there was a fancy dress contest as well as a competition for the best-dressed window. Each child received a crown. Dancing to disco music provided a fitting climax to the day for young and old.

YOU could have heard the proverbial pin drop in the Ribble Valley on the morning of Royal Wedding day.

But having enjoyed the television spectacular from London, mums and dads turned out .in the afternoon to make it a real day to *■ remember for themselves and their children.

Parts of Clitheroe and many villages took on a carnival atmosphere on one of the war mest days of the summer.

There were games, dancing and fancy dress parades, not to mention competitions for

- decorated hats, bikes and windows.

At some parties, commemorative^ souvenirs such as mugs or crowns were given to the children.

GAMES and a tea party followed by more games set the scene for residents in the upper area of Pasturelands, Billington. With the junior section of the

celebrations over, the youngsters were put to bed and parents then enjoyed a disco with potato pie supper.

GAMES and races on the banks of the Ribble proved popular at a party for children of the upper section of the Riverside housing estate, Low Moor. Parents later joined them. A treat for the adults came in the evening in the form of a barbecue and disco.
