the work of the Lanca­ shire County Library Ser­ vice, with reference to the branch library at Chat- burn, was given at the • annual parish meeting by Mrs K. Hilder, assistant district librarian. She was thanked by

the Best-Kept Village Competition and it was decided to enter again. Members of the public


expressed concern at the loss of the public conveni­ ences and the council was urged to suggest alterna­ tive sites to the Ribble Valley Council for their replacement. Double parking in vari-,


ous streets and excessive’ speed by vehicles using Ribble Lane were other matters raised.
