THE retention of Mr Charles Wilson, the Ribble Valley Council’s former Chief Architect and Planning Officer, on a consultancy basis for the new £lm offices was criticised at Tuesday’s meeting of the council.

YOUNGSTERS in a playgroup at SS Michael and John’s Church, Clitheroe, will have a bumper Christmas this year as the result of a cake-icing demonstration held on Tuesday night. About 150 people attended' the fund-raising

event in the church hall, where a bring-and-buy stall, tombola and competition to guess the weight of a cake teddy bear raised £150. The money will be used to buy presents for the children, to provide a party and to help pay the

church’s electricity bill. The demonstration was given by Mrs Jackie

kin, who run the group three days a week in the church’s youth club, are grateful to everyone who
