Slaidburn couple die in
the same week THREE days after the death of his wife, former Slaidburn village band conductor Mr Harry Cle ments passed away at the age of 70.
Mrs Annie Clements (75) was to have been held at the Methodist Chapel, Slaidburn, on Friday. But following the death of her husband on Wednesday it was postponed so that a double funeral could take place. A service at the chapel

the Chapel House, Slaid burn, were held in high esteem in the village. Mrs Clements was

CLITHEROE Afternoon Townswomen’s Guild meeting attracted a large attendance, despite being held on Bank Holiday Monday. The vice-chairman, Mrs
F. Hermon, presided. The treasurer reported that the last sales table pro duced a £20 profit. Mrs Hermon read the
annual meeting resolu tions, and it was agreed to leave the vote to the dele gate. Mr T. Scott, who gave
an illustrated talk on “Lakeland’s quiet cor ners,” was thanked by Mrs E. Livesey.
