Moped rider had no helmet
DURING a trial run on a moped a 27-year-old Clithcroe man did not wear a crash helmet because he wanted to hear if the engine was running properly. This was the explanation
Alan King, of Bolland Pros pect, gave to Clitheroe magis trates when he admitted three motoring offences. He was fined £20 for riding the moped without insurance and £5 for
using it without an excise licence. For not wearing a crash helmet he was given an absolute discharge. King told the court he was
hoping to buy the machine and was trying it out. The owner of the moped,
John Hilton Smithies, of Highfield Road, Clithcroe, was fined £20 for permitting King to use it without insur ance.
