CLITHEROE Probus Club had the largest, audience in iLs history when members were joined by their wives to hear Mr Alex Broadley, of Accrington, describe Disney land in Florida. He showed slides of the
place, which is about the size of Clithcroe and in cludes permanent tableaux, replicas of buildings and streets from famous films, and where tropical trees and creepers contrast with stretches of parkland and well-groomed lawns. He was thanked by Mr J.
Hargreaves, of Read. Chairman Mr S. Whiteside
reminded members that subscriptions to the Pltysio- therapy Centre are due on January 1st. An "Any Questions'"
panel will be held on Decem ber 20th.

Chatburn poppy total
THE poppy appeal organised by Chatburn and District branch of the Royal British Legion totalled just over £3G0. This was slightly down on last year because of a fall in proceeds from social events. Tire poppy collection itself showed a
small increase. The money came from
the sale of poppies and wreaths, church collections
and donations in Chatburn and the surrounding area. Mr Jack Altham, the
organiser, wishes to thank the collectors and donors and. In particular, pupils of Bowland County secondary School who under the guid ance of their headmaster, Mr G. C. Harris, added silver foil and leaves to the poppies during their lunch break. Individual totals: Grindlc-

The bridegroom is the
younger son of Mrs Tomlin son, of Coronation Street, Great Harwood, and the late Mr R. Tomlinson, and the bride is the younger daugh ter of Mr and Mrs W. R. Hanson, of Westfield Drive, West Bradford. The bride, given away by
her father, wore a blue dress with matching jacket and accessories and a pink hat. Bridesmaid Miss Kathleen Hanson, the bride's sister, wore a brown dress with matching jacket and acces sories and a fur hat. Best man was Mr Michael
Karate club seeks
members
A CLITHEROE karate club is seeking more members, otherwise it might lose its
instructor. Karate -instruction was
started at the Congrega tional Youth club about two months ago. They practise the s h o t k a n form of the sport under Derek iNewsholme, of Preston, brown belt instructor.
Of the club's hard core of
10 members, two, Stcviin Williamson and' Dav.d Woodworth, have already passed their first grading.
Says youth club leader Mr
Mick Hodges, " I would l'atc to lose such a good instruc tor as Mr Newshohne, but if wc don’t get any more members tills might happen. The clubs he runs around Preston are all fully sub scribed with about 50 mem bers.’’

joining the free classes should go t° the youth club on Thursday evenings or contact Mr Hodges at. his home at 14 Chatburn Road.
Clitheroe. " People who join the
class will have to be dedi cated because this form of karate is very demanding,"
he said. As well as taking part in
instruction sessions at the club, Mr Hodges puts in an extra 14 hours practice a
week.
