THE problem faced by Wlialley Scouts in their search for land for their headquarters came one step nearer conclusion at the parish council meeting.


John Shaw offered to ap­ proach the council of Whalley Parish C h u r c h about the rental of a small piece of ground at the bottom of the churchyard. If they agreed, he would then approach the Scout leader, who already had the necessary huts for the troop to use as their base.

Dilemma over gala date


CLTTHEROE Boys' Gram­ mar School’s request for a Wednesday date for their swimming gala put town council members in a pre­ dicament on Monday night.


Pool opened the Recreation and Amenities committee was told the council passed a resolution restricting events like this to Saturday nights . . , but at the same time the councillors were eager to help tthe school.
