and the developments here are of considerable signifi­ cance in view of the latest regulations. Radials a re definitely “in” but there are new types of radials which give a quieter softer ride, yet still retain the characteristics of adhesion and long wear. There are also the bias-ply tyres which originated in the United States ,to give a prac­ tical compromise between cross-ply and radial.
