Foundation Installations Completed For Baltyk 2 And Baltyk 3 Offshore Wind Farms
Heerema Marine Contractors has successfully completed the offshore foundation installation project for the Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 offshore wind farms in the Baltic Sea.
As part of the project, Heerema installed 100 monopiles and transition pieces, along with two offshore substation jackets, over a four month period.
The company used the semi- submersible crane vessel Thialf and 35 support vessels to ensure smooth operations.
Baltyk 2 and Baltyk 3 are a joint venture between Equinor and Polenergia.
Each wind farm will have an installed capacity of 720 MW and forms part of a larger project that, once completed, will have 3 GW of installed capacity, enough to supply 4 million households with green energy.
Marcel de Nooijer, CEO of Heerema Marine Contractors, said: “Baltyk 2 and 3 will become an important source of renewable electricity for Poland, supporting both the country’s energy transition and long-term energy security.”
In the announcement, Heerema emphasised its close collaboration with vessel owners, subcontractors, marine service providers, fabricators, and project teams both onshore and offshore.
Acta Gemini Starts Charter At Sofia Offshore Wind Farm
Acta Gemini has completed its shakedown and mobilisation programme and begun a long- term charter supporting the Sofia Offshore Wind Farm in the UK.
The vessel will operate from Grimsby, providing offshore accommodation and walk-to- work services for technicians and specialists working on the project.
The 1.4 GW Sofia Offshore Wind Farm is located on Dogger Bank in the North Sea, about 195 km off the north-east coast of England. Once fully operational, the project is expected to generate enough renewable electricity to power the equivalent of 1.2 million UK homes.
Acta Gemini is the third vessel in Acta Marine’s series of four next- generation service operation vessel newbuilds. The vessel was delivered by Tersan Shipyard in June 2026 and was built to support offshore wind operation and maintenance activities.
The vessel can accommodate up to 88 personnel and is equipped with an offshore access system, a helideck and two daughter craſt for the transfer of personnel to offshore installations.
