Seaonics Expands Training And Simulator Offering With Partnership In Taiwan

Seaonics has signed an agreement with Metal Industries Research & Development Centre (MIRDC) to install a Seaonics gangway simulator at the MTIC training center located in Taiwan.

Taiwan has made significant investments in offshore wind in recent years and is now one of the leading markets in the region. With several Seaonics customers operating in Taiwanese waters, establishing local training capabilities is an important step in supporting safe and efficient offshore operations.

Local training for offshore operators As part of the agreement, MIRDC’s training center will be equipped with a Seaonics gangway simulator used for operator training. The simulator provides a realistic training environment where operators can

practice gangway operations and build competence before performing the same tasks offshore.

By bringing this training capability to Taiwan, Seaonics will be able to conduct operator courses locally, making essential training more accessible for customers in the region.

Building on long simulator experience Seaonics has more than 20 years of experience developing and delivering advanced simulation solutions. Seaonics regularly conduct simulator training at its facilities in Norway, where operators gain practical experience in a safe and controlled environment.

With the new installation in Taiwan, the goal is to replicate the same high training standard and support operators with the competence needed to perform safe and efficient offshore operations.

A strong training partner in Taiwan

MIRDC is a well-recognized research and development institute in Taiwan and is supported by the government. The organization plays an important role in industrial development and technological innovation, including initiatives related to offshore wind. Its training facilities, MTIC, provide a strong platform for developing local competence and supporting the growing offshore industry.

Through this partnership, Seaonics and MIRDC aim to strengthen training opportunities for operators and contribute to the continued development of Taiwan’s offshore wind sector.

“We are very pleased to establish this partnership and expand our training and simulator offering into Taiwan, a market that continues to show strong commitment to offshore wind and local competence development.” Ståle Fure, Vice President Sales at Seaonics.
