Rooster Rojo Tequila — The Bartenders’ Tequila
There are popular brands and then there are popular brands that are also admired by serious bar professionals. Fast-growing Rooster Rojo Tequila falls into the latter category.
Last month, we reported on how Rooster Rojo Tequila is a bartenders’ brand of choice across the world in many top venues and here we profile still more bartenders who love this liquid. The brand’s logo, the proud red rooster, is a symbol of Mexico, reflecting the authentic nature of this award-winning agave spirit.
Rooster Rojo is a brand with a strong craft appeal as it uses traditional glass with the Rooster motif prominently etched into the bottle. It is a 100% Blue Weber Agave Tequila and its range of multi-award-winning spirits comprises such expressions as:
• Blanco (38% ABV); • Reposado (38% ABV); • Añejo (38% ABV); • Smoked Pineapple Tequila (38% ABV); • Ahumado (40% ABV).
The brand has just unveiled its first Mezcal. Rooster Rojo Mezcal will be available in the UK in the early Summer.

Only delegates attending the ProWein exhibition last month have had the opportunity to taste it.
The two smoked tequilas and the Mezcal each have distinctive and exquisite taste profiles.
Smoked Pineapple Tequila is a world first, delivering a truly innovative flavour profile. To create this innovation, Rooster Rojo’s Master Distiller experimented with various pineapples and different roast levels for over a year until they found the perfect level of smokiness and the best variety, Red Spanish Pineapples.
Rooster Rojo Ahumado has a slightly higher ABV than the other expressions, enabling the taste notes of this extraordinary spirit to shine through and it meets the growing trend for smoky flavours. This spirit is a Reposado tequila and is made by roasting the agave using an artisanal underground oven for 48 hours using stones heated with Mesquite firewood.
Rooster Rojo Tequila is produced at the very base of the Volćan de Tequila, a UNESCO protected area in Mexico. It is hand-crafted and blended with water that is filtered through Mexican silver, Rooster Rojo is the first Tequila to use this technique, resulting in an authentic and high-quality spirit.
