HEREFORD CATHEDRAL JUNIOR SCHOOL WINS AT THE BARNARDO’S NATIONAL CHOIR COMPETITION
Hereford Cathedral Junior School Choir has won the Traditional Category at the 2025 Barnardo’s National Choir Competition, held on 4 March at Birmingham Symphony Hall. Competing against top UK youth choirs, the HCJS choir impressed judges with performances of KUSIMAMA (Stand Tall) and Humpty Dumpty.
Headteacher Mrs Hoffmann said, “I was absolutely delighted to see the HCJS Year 5 & 6 Choir receive a trophy as finalists in the Barnardo’s competition. Miss Toolan and the children worked brilliantly together to deliver a performance that received raptur- ous applause. After so many months of hard work, everyone is really delighted with the outcome.”
Now in its 17th year, the competition is the UK’s largest for school and community choirs, offering young singers a platform to showcase their talent. HCJS’s victory highlights the school’s dedication to the performing arts, inspiring young musicians and fostering a love for music.
