WHAT’S ON IN YOUR COUNT Y
He combines ingenuity with perceptive comments on class and marriage that remain shockingly undated. He plays games with space and time. He overlaps two distinct households: one posh, the other messy and middle-class, and intersperses them with a third, which is socially hopeless but earnest. Ayckbourn is also the most determined opponent of the eternal male bully.

FAIRYTALE OPERA
Buxton International Festival’s production of Pauline Viardot’s miniature operetta, is an elegant retelling of the classic fairy tale Cinderella.
Laura Attridge (Director) and Anna Orton (Designer) have created a simple but inspired production. The operetta is sung in French (with English surtitles) and the dialogue is all in English.
The chamber opera, featuring seven singers and a pianist, has a score where sumptuous melodies abound, vocal lines soar, and the Cinderella tale is told with a smile.
COMIC DRAMA GENIUS
Alan Ayckbourn's play How The Other Half Loves reminds us just what a comic master he is.
The production was mounted for the first time at the 2021 Buxton International Festival and played to sell-out audience. It is a family opera. A great introduction to opera for teenagers and young adults.
It’s at Warwick Arts Centre on February 7. For tickets visit
