Liftex 2022

Implications Of Fire Safety Regulations & Lifts On The Agenda For LIFTEX 2022

October 12th – 13th 2022, ExCeL, London

LIFTEX 2022 is the UK’s only dedicated event for the lift, escalator and access industry. Taking place only once every three years, the forthcoming event is timely for the industry with changes to Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022 now published. This, and other implications for ‘responsible persons’, will be tackled in a series of free seminars during the two-day event.

Oliver Greening, LIFTEX Show Director explains, “The event is organised by LEIA (Lift and Escalator Industry Association) bringing together a network of experts to address the latest changes. The Buildings Safety Act is just one of several pieces of legislation is expected to have a far-reaching impact on the design and ongoing management of a building’s lifts. In addition, there are changes expected to come into force early next year with the Fire Safety (England) Regulations 2022. When combined with the Regulatory Reform (Fire Safety) Order, all of this will have consequences for the management and upkeep of lifts used by fire firefighters and evacuation lifts too. The sessions are ideal for anyone looking to get advice on the latest standards, changes to regulations and implications for new and existing lifts.”

Other issues covered include the switch to digital phone lines on alarm systems and UKCA product marking. Sessions include: •

The impact of digital telephone lines on lift

alarms – Matthew Davies, European Lift Association TELCO Working Group. •

Nick Mellor, LEIA. •

Evacuation lifts, fire and disabled people – Lifts for use of the fire and rescue service –

Matthew Canham, National Fire Chiefs Council, Protection Policy and Reform Unit (PPRU) Building Safety Programme (BSP). • UKCA:

product compliance and marking

post-Brexit - Paul Clifton, LEIA Quality & Technical Committee.

Running alongside the seminars is an exhibition featuring over 100 suppliers including contractors,
