CONVERSATIONS ABOUT OUR FUTURE: YOUTH IN ACTION December 17, 4 p.m. EST The American story has been pro- foundly shaped by Native Amer- icans, yet the stories told about Native people are almost always incomplete. From Pocahontas and Jamestown to the first Thanksgiving and Plymouth Colony, Indigenous peoples have rarely been the narra- tors. Join a conversation with Native youth to learn how Native commu- nities are actively reshaping these narratives today.


ART OF STORYTELLING February 6–27 Native American storytellers use the oral tradition to teach life lessons, tribal histories and the nuance of lan- guages. Such stories are an essential tool in passing knowledge from one generation to the next.

ROBERT LEWIS February 6, 11 a.m. EST Experience storytelling with Robert Lewis (Cherokee Nation), who shares stories of his people and culture. Lewis engages audiences of all ages with witty and amusing personal stories and Cherokee tales of language and history.


MOSES GOODS February 13, 11 a.m. EST Moses Goods (Native Hawaiian) is one of Hawai‘i’s most prominent theatre artists and storytellers. Goods will share traditional Hawaiian stories with a contemporary twist, including one featuring the legendary trickster Maui.

GENE TAGABAN February 20, 11 a.m. EST Gene Tagaban (Tlingit), also known as “One Crazy Raven,” is a teller of stories that teach, entertain and heal. Tagaban will relay stories from his grandmother about the trickster Raven.
