Tlingit crest items are essential for certain ceremonies. This carved wood crest hat features the Teikweidi clan’s crest animal, a brown bear, jumping through a copper shield. NMAI returned it to the Central Council Tlingit and Haida Indian Tribes of Alaska and the Angoon Community Association on behalf of the Teikweidi clan in 2018.
