North America's industrial lifting equipment magazine

The future, right now W

elcome to the Fall 2025 edition of Overhead Crane & Hoist. I am excited to bring you another issue dedicated to spotlighting the people, companies and innovations shaping the lifting industry today. It is a privilege to help share the stories that matter – whether they come from the shop floor,

the construction site or the executive suite. This issue highlights the technologies, regional developments and industry shifts that continue to redefine what overhead lifting looks like across the US and beyond. In our state focus on Wisconsin, we explore the Badger State’s strong manufacturing legacy and its

growing role as a hub for overhead lifting and material handling innovation, on page 34. From the state’s strong manufacturing presence, heavy equipment producers and paper mills to the its world-class training institutions, Wisconsin shows how a balanced mix of tradition and forward-looking investment continues to strengthen the lifting sector. We also sit down with Ryan Marks, president of Uesco Cranes, on page 20 to hear how he learnt to love the business his forefathers built. Through his leadership and modernisation, Uesco continues to balance heritage with innovation, which Marks hopes will maintain the company’s legacy far beyond his own tenure. On page 74, we take a close look at how Industry 4.0 is transforming the crane and hoist industry. Smart sensors, predictive maintenance and data-driven fleet management are no longer future concepts – they are being applied on the ground, reshaping how companies approach safety, efficiency and long-term performance. We take a look at some of the key trends shaping the industry. We examine manufacturing investment trends across the US on page 68, highlighting the sectors that

are driving demand for overhead lifting equipment. With the uncertainty surrounding the US at the moment, each sector faces its own challenges. We explore the knock-on effect on the overhead lifting industry and the opportunities ahead.

Just as fall encourages us to look ahead and prepare for what’s next, I hope you find inspiration, practical insights and a forward-looking perspective in this edition of Overhead Crane & Hoist.
