Motion control and counterbalancing through precision spring products
John Evans’ Sons is ‘America’s oldest spring maker’. Founded in 1850, it manufactures precision springs, wire forms, mechanical assemblies and stampings. It is a leading manufacturer for the medical equipment industry and has provided spring assemblies for many of the world’s largest medical corporations. Its quality assurance procedures have been surveyed and approved by more than 300 of the world’s largest corporations. By employing ISO 13485:2016 and ISO 9001:2015, in conjunction with cutting-edge inspection and calibration systems, it can ensure that customers’ most exacting requirements are met. John Evans’ Sons provides three different types of spring: ■ Constant-force springs: provide a smooth range of motion and a constant load in the extending or retracting direction. This spring design has no inertia to overcome when considering the initial position starting forces. They are compact and mount easily to existing hardware.
John Evans’ Sons serves large medtech companies.
■ Spiral torsion springs: allow rotation in two directions and a ‘return to centre’ capability. Spiral torsion springs are normally used in applications requiring less than 360° rotation – generally used to obtain a large amount of torque with a small amount of rotation. ■ Power springs: store rotational energy by being stressed when wound around the arbor. Delivers rotational energy to the arbor when it rotates, by
expanding to the maximum curvature allowed by the keeper.
Founded in Sweden in 1675, Lesjöfors is operating on a global scale in the development and manufacturing of technical springs, formed/stamped parts, gas springs and metal conveyor belts. With a workforce of over 2,500 at over 35 production facilities globally, the Lesjöfors Group ranks as a leading company in the springs industry. John Evans’ Sons, part of Lesjöfors Group, is eager to discuss the design requirements and spring challenges in clients’ various design and prototype phases. ●
