Next generation precision multiplexing

LiquidArray, launched on the high-precision FluoroCycler XT thermocycler, is a new PCR-based microbiological detection technology from Bruker Microbiology & Diagnostics, which brings next generation infectious disease diagnostics to the routine clinical lab.

s hospital laboratories come under growing pressure to return accurate and timely results, technological advances in disease detection can help deliver new efficiencies to the lab. LiquidArray, which runs on Bruker’s high- performance thermocycler, the FluoroCycler XT, offers a streamlined laboratory workflow in a familiar polymerase chain reaction (PCR)-based format, producing next generation multiplexing results at a glance. LiquidArray can support clinicians to solve clinical challenges more rapidly and with a high degree of confidence in the results. By delivering next generation multiplexed PCR results, LiquidArray reveals more information than traditional PCR assays in a single reaction. This latest innovation from Bruker Microbiology & Diagnostics is available for the detection of mycobacterial, sexually transmitted, and gastrointestinal infections for faster and more accurate decision-making in the clinical laboratory.

A LiquidArray multiplexed PCR infectious disease assays bring new efficiencies to the clinical lab.

Reap the benefits ■

Streamlined infectious disease diagnostic workflows:

Assays that are powered by Liquid- Array provide comprehensive coverage with next generation multiplexing in a familiar PCR-based workflow – each developed with compatible nucleic acid extraction to provide a solution from patient sample to result.

■

Comprehensive coverage: LiquidArray technology is underpinned by the unique features of the

FluoroCycler XT – high thermal precision and outstanding optical alignment. Together with innovative probe design, these features allow multiple targets to be analysed within a single optical channel, and all five optical channels to be fully utilised – allowing assays to be developed according to clinical need.

LiquidArray technology is applied in two main diagnostic approaches: – Multiple target detection from a single sample, providing syndromic panels with comprehensive coverage – Multiple mutation detection within a single target, providing rapid differentiation of drug- resistant infections. Results at a glance:

LiquidArray technology together with the FluoroCycler XT and integrated FluoroSoftware XT-IVD produces a multi-diagnostic report in a single run and presents results in an at-a-glance visualisation. The platform can be paired with a laboratory information management system (LIMS).

Current clinical applications ■

Mycobacteria: FluoroType Mycobacteria VER 1.0 powered by LiquidArray allows detection of the Mycobacterium tuberculosis complex and differentiation of 32 clinically relevant non-tuberculous mycobacteria from culture in a single well.

FluoroType MTBDR VER 2.0 powered by LiquidArray enables detection of more than 500 genotypes in the M. tuberculosis complex from patient sputum by the combined analysis of up to 45 different mutations.

■

Sexually transmitted infections (STI): FluoroType STI powered by LiquidArray detects seven prevalent bacterial and parasitic STI pathogens in a single well. For two pathogenic species, Chlamydia trachomatis (CT) and Neisseria gonorrhoeae (NG), dual-target detection enables a single test for reliable results.

■

Gastrointestinal infections: LiquidArray Gastrointestinal detects up to 26 pathogens linked with causing gastro-enteritis, including bacteria, bacterial toxins, viruses and parasites, in a single protocol.

The future is multiplex LiquidArray multiplexed PCR infectious disease assays bring new efficiencies to the clinical lab, offering streamlined laboratory workflows and easy to interpret results. ●
