Company insight Magnetic body shaping
The latest innovation in body shaping is magnetic stimulation technology, enabling muscles to strengthen, tone and firm without effort. Fotona, a leader in the development of high-performance medical devices, utilises magnetic muscle-building technology to provide additional strengthening of pelvic floor muscles to effectively treat urinary incontinence.
weaker muscle appearance has become the norm in modern society. This can be a source of high dissatisfaction among patients, and has contributed greatly to the rising demand for treatments that help to improve the appearance and strength of muscles. With modern urban lifestyles, many individuals have limited time to focus on their physical health and, therefore, seek alternatives to boost their body’s physical function and appearance. Patients naturally prefer more minimally invasive procedures, with less downtime and lower cost. The numbers confirm that non-surgical procedures have enjoyed an especially significant rise in the past 20 years. Increasing public acceptance and a growing demand for body contouring treatments, as well as greater prevalence of obesity in the population, are the key factors that have boosted the rapid growth of the market for non-invasive body contouring. Non-invasive body-shaping methods have already been available on the market for a number of years, and in that time they have delivered great results. But only very recently has a newer class of devices based on the principles of magnetic stimulation been introduced, which utilise a novel approach that focuses on the underlying muscles that are responsible for creating a toned and aesthetic appearance.

Before and after the use of Fotona’s StarFormer device. Using safe magnetic stimulation, muscles can be strengthened and toned.
How it works Fotona’s new StarFormer device utilises the company’s innovative high-intensity Tesla magnetic stimulation (HITS) technology for superior results with magnetic muscle stimulation. It is based on the application of focused electromagnetic fields with safe intensity levels that generate electrical currents in the muscle tissue and depolarise motor neurons. That causes muscle contraction, enabling the muscle tissue to effectively strengthen, tone and firm. This revolutionary medical technology is currently being used in aesthetic medicine as well as regenerative medicine, physiotherapy, urology and gynaecology. StarFormer comes in two models: TightWave and IntimaWave. The StarFormer TightWave model selectively targets the muscles of different body areas (glutes, arms, abdomen, thighs and back) to strengthen, tone, firm and
sculpt the body. Muscle cells are built up without voluntary muscle contractions, such as during traditional training. The end result is increased muscle strength and improved appearance. StarFormer TightWave can also be used for muscle pain management.
The StarFormer IntimaWave model, in a similar way, stimulates muscle contraction in the pelvic floor and lower back region to treat stress incontinence, faecal incontinence and erectile dysfunction. In a study conducted by Dr Roberto
Valdivia Sing of Costa Rica, eight StarFormer TightWave treatments (two to three weekly) were applied to the abdomen of patients. Waist circumference, the effect on abdominal appearance, treatment satisfaction and the safety of the procedure were monitored. In the treated patients the level of satisfaction with the appearance following treatment was high, and they would recommend the treatment to others. For the majority of patients, evaluators also assessed the treatment as either effective or very effective. StarFormer with HITS technology represents a unique, safe and effective method for non-invasive body sculpting by enhancing both muscle strength and appearance. ●
Another before and after shot with Fotona. With people’s hectic, busy lifestyles, StarFormer technology is a useful shortcut to developing a jealousy-inducing body.
