FUTURE LEADER IN PRIVATE CLIENT SERVICES

Adele Pledger WITHERS

Adele Pledger joined Withers in 2009, qualifying into the firm’s family law team in 2011. Over the past decade her star has been in the ascendant as she has garnered a repu- tation for dealing with complex and often international financial remedy cases follow- ing divorce. This has included working alongside one of the firm’s stars, Diana Park- er, in advising the hedge fund manager Sir Chris Hohn following his 2014 divorce, and in relation to subsequent litigation. Pledger has been commended by col- leagues for bringing in ‘significant amounts of work from referrals from within the firm and via a wide network of external contacts’, as well as instructions from previous clients. This showed ‘impressive self-sufficiency’, and no doubt aided her ascent to partner at the start of 2021.

A recent highlight was a case worth $1 bil- lion, in which she examined 50 international bank accounts across several countries. The client she represented, a CEO of a global pri- vate equity firm, wrote to her saying she is ‘bright, bright, bright with numbers, the law and – like Diana [Parker] – great with people’. The client added: ‘If things do not work out at Withers you might consider a job in PE.’ For now, though, she is staying firmly put. RS
