Front Editor’s choice THONET

Classic materials such as bentwood and canework, reduced to the essential. The new 119 chair designed by Sebastian Herkner is a quintessential Thonet piece that’s bound to make its mark in any setting. It can be positioned alone or in a pair as an elegant counterpoint to a comfy sofa, whether in a residential living room or the lounge area of a hotel lobby or the reception/breakout area of a ‘New Work’ type environment. This new design has emerged organically from the successful 118 chair programme, originally created for Thonet by Sebastian Herkner in 2018. thonet.de/en

JUNCKERS

The historic Bath Abbey has undergone extensive repair and conservation work. As part of reworking and improving the abbey’s back of house facilities, FCBStudios designed a new timber-lined choir practice room where up to 60 singers can rehearse. The oak-panelled room features Junckers solid 20.5mm Oak Harmony plank flooring. With an expected lifespan of well over 60 years, the floor forms part of the design to future- proof the Abbey.

STYLE

Combining moveable walls within the same building is fast becoming the latest trend for architects aiming to create a flexible space solution. In the London ofices of Anglo American, partitioning experts Style installed a complex arrangement of moveable wall systems to divide a single large space into four individual rooms. To achieve the level of adaptability required, Style utilised solid and glass Dorma Hüppe Variflex semi-automatic moveable walls, as well as vertically rising, fully automatic Skyfold Classic 60 moveable walls. style-partitions.co.uk
