Recruitment

INTERNATIONAL TIMBER BUYER

My group of companies now seeks an experienced Timber Buyer based at my Head Office in Bedford. Can you source the timber sections for the next phase of our growth?

You must have a strong demonstrable success in securing feedstock for my businesses in Estonia, Poland, Hungary and the UK. Currently I am buying about 45,000m3 per annum and with 4 new factories coming on stream for processing finished products this is planned to expand to 70,000m3 in the next 3 years.

We buy dimensional timbers, both sawn and finished, from Sawmills and importers. It is essential that you can maintain excellent relationships with existing suppliers and seeking new suppliers and negotiating prices for the right quantities and qualities for our expansion.

This role will demand travelling to suitable sellers’ premises and attending appropriate Trade Events. An experienced feedstock buyer will understand that this role can be quite complicated and you will often work past a standard ‘9 – 5’ day. You will have excellent abilities to develop relationships with our suppliers and my General Managers in my factories. This is a very team orientated role where leadership qualities are essential.

You will need to be capable of adapting to many situations and remain calm under pressure. Be analytical and able to negotiate with an excellent commercial set of skills.

Excellent Salary £50 - £60k to the right candidate
