China


China remained a major destination for raw hide and wet blue sales, though the market experienced


fluctuations. In August, China purchased 486,600 pieces of raw hides, making it the largest buyer, with demand continuing in September at 293,800 pieces. Wet blue sales to China were more volatile, with purchases ranging from 14,400 to 50,800 pieces across the weeks. Shipments to China also saw varying levels, reflecting global market dynamics. While raw hide sales showed an overall increase, wet blue sales saw significant declines compared to previous months.


Colombia


The Colombian leather market remained steady with no changes in pricing across all categories. Salted


hides weighing 26/28kg held at $0.40 per kg, while 30/32kg hides maintained their price at $0.50 per kg. Wet blue hides followed a similar trend, with TR1/ TR2 20/22mm-plus priced at $0.42 per square foot and TR3 at $0.34 per square foot.


Finland


Finnish hide markets remained largely stable with minimal fluctuations in pricing. Cow hide prices stayed

German cows (40kg-plus) sold for €0.90-€0.95 per kg. Bull prices in southern Germany remained firm, with 40-49kg hides selling at €1.20-€1.25 per kg and larger 50kg-plus hides reaching €1.25-€1.30 per kg. Heifer prices also remained stable, with northern German heifers above 25kg trading at €0.80 per kg and southern German heifers weighing 40kg-plus priced at €1.05 per kg. Despite limited new orders and ongoing market tensions, the market maintained pre-fair prices with some small fluctuations depending on size and region.


Greece


The Greek lamb and sheep skin market remained stable throughout August and September, with no price changes reported across categories. Pickled lamb skins in the 70/20/10 grade held steady at $110-$125 per dozen, while C2 lamb skins maintained prices between $35- $45 per dozen.


India


Crust buffalo hides, particularly the 1.4- 1.6mm selection, rose from $0.50-0$.55 per square foot in early August to a


steady $0.60 per square foot by mid-September. Similarly, the 0.9-1.1mm hides firmed up, moving from $0.40-$0.45 per square foot to $0.50 per square foot during the same period.


€6.50 per kg for 13kg-plus luxury skins, and €4.50- €5.00 per kg for smaller 8-12kg skins. French cow prices were slightly softer, with larger cow hides from Bretagne trading between €1.00-€1.05 per kg, and Central French hides remaining steady at €0.85- €0.95 per kg. Bull markets showed little movement, with prices for Central French bulls 37kg and up holding firm at €1.15-€1.20 per kg. Despite reduced slaughtering and pressure on prices for certain selections, demand for high-end leather kept the French market relatively firm.
