Kronospan has completed the purchase of the Simsboro, Louisiana, particleboard plant from Roseburg after regulatory approval.

Andritz sees Q3, 2023 earnings increase by 16%


Andritz has reported a healthy set of results for Q3, 2023 and an expected positive outlook for the full year as a whole. The company reported


revenue up by 11%, net income up by 27% and EBITA rising 16%, compared to Q3 2022.


Order intake was down from a year ago due to an absence of large orders. But the order backlog remains at a high level.


Detailed figures posted by Andritz in its financial update show that order intake in Q3, 2023 was €1.8bn – 32.8% below the previous year’s reference figure.

of September 30, 2023 amounted to €10.3bn, increasing by 3.9% compared with the end of 2022. Revenue in Q3 reached €2.1bn, with all four business areas noting significant


increases in revenue compared to the previous year. Revenue in the first three quarters of 2023, at €6.2bn, was also significantly higher than the previous year’s reference figure. EBITA in Q3 amounted to €176.4m, while the EBITA in the first three quarters of 2023 amounted to €509m, +19.5% compared to Q1-Q3 of 2022. “Our products and solutions


serving the green transition of the economy are increasingly contributing to our order intake,” said Joachim Schönbeck, president and CEO of Andritz AG. “We are steadily expanding this product range, reaffirming our commitment to innovation and sustainability. The solid growth in our service revenues continued in the third quarter, helping us to further stabilise our business.”

to modernising the facility in the post-acquisition period. “This acquisition marks a significant event in the growth of Kronospan’s North American business, as it will enable us to expand our footprint in the particleboard and TFL markets and provide even better service to our existing and future customers,” said Hans Obermaier, CEO of Kronospan’s North American operations.


“The Simsboro site has a long history in the particleboard industry and this acquisition fits our growth portfolio well. We are excited to welcome our newest


teammates to the Kronospan organisation.” As part of the acquisition, Kronospan will retain the facility’s 182 team members. The two companies will work to ensure a seamless transition for vendors, suppliers and customers. Roseburg president and


CEO Stuart Gray said the new owners had indicated their commitment to investing in the facility and operating it over the long term. Roseburg recently announced significant investments in two new composites plants located in Dillard, Oregon, which will manufacture medium and high-density fibreboard and MDF trim suitable for exterior applications.

on November 22, at the STARTUP THE FUTURE event in Stuttgart, with


wood-based panels and forming industries use EVORIS software to intelligently digitalise, monitor, analyse and optimise their production. Collected data is processed in various EVORIS apps. Each app has its own functions, but combining their results provides manufacturers with a comprehensive analysis. “EVORIS initially helps our
