Hydro-Québec appoints Claudine Bouchard as President and CEO
Hydro-Québec’s board of directors has officially appointed Claudine Bouchard as the company’s new President and CEO. She assumed her role on July 5.. fBouchard has been with Hydro-Québec for over 25 years and most recently served as Executive Vice President and Chief Operating and Infrastructure Officer. She has held senior leadership roles for the past five years and is credited as one of the main architects of the utility’s 2035 Action Plan. “This appointment is the result of a rigorous
recruitment process,” said Manon Brouillette, Chair of the Board of Directors. “Very early on, it became clear that Ms. Bouchard was the ideal person to guide us in this new chapter.” As COO, Bouchard oversaw $100 billion in assets, including 88 hydroelectric power plants and 264,000 kilometers of transmission lines. She led several modernisation efforts and was instrumental in improving service reliability, cutting outages by 50% by 2024. Premier François Legault emphasized the importance of strong leadership as the utility advances its $200 billion plan. “Claudine Bouchard knows the Crown corporation very well. She has demonstrated that she knows how to get things done, bring teams together, and lead concrete transformations,” he said. “I am convinced that she has everything it takes to lead Hydro-Québec in this new phase of its development.” Bouchard’s appointment comes at a time of significant energy transformation for Quebec. The company is engaged in major infrastructure projects and finalizing a historic energy agreement with Newfoundland and Labrador. “We are delighted that Claudine Bouchard has accepted the presidency of Hydro-Québec at a pivotal moment in our history,” Brouillette said. “She masters the technical complexity of operations and embodies the social mission of our great public institution.” Minister of Economy, Innovation and Energy Christine Fréchette also praised Bouchard’s experience. “Few people know Hydro-Québec as well as its new CEO,” she said. “Together, we will continue implementing our ambitious action plan, which will lead Hydro-Québec to spearhead the energy transition, enhance and diversify energy production, and generate significant economic benefits for Quebec.” In a statement, Bouchard said she is ready

Industry veteran Andy Clarke moves to Mott MacDonald
Mott MacDonald has appointed Andy Clarke as development manager, UK and Europe for its Heavy Civil Infrastructure (HCI) division. Based in its London global headquarters, Andy will spearhead the growth and development of Mott MacDonald’s HCI business, which encompasses major engineering disciplines including bridges, tunnels, foundations and geotechnics, underground structures and specialist services. The division has played a pivotal role in designing and delivering landmark complex transport projects such as the Elizabeth Line, Thames Tideway and HS2, and the team are currently focused on other major infrastructure schemes such as Lower Thames Crossing and Heathrow. Clarke will focus on expanding the HCI division’s footprint across the UK and Europe, with a particular emphasis on supporting the delivery of complex infrastructure projects. His remit includes strengthening client relationships, enhancing digital delivery and aligning the division’s capabilities with the evolving needs of the market. Clarke brings over 20 years of experience in the infrastructure sector, having held senior leadership roles at Costain, where he most recently served as integrated transport director. In that role, he led the development of multi-modal transport solutions, championed digital innovation and drove decarbonisation initiatives across the UK’s transport network. He also served as chair of Hydrogen South West, where he advanced cross-sector collaboration to accelerate the transition to green energy solutions across the hydrogen ecosystem. Commenting on his appointment,

Peter-Wim Gerssen named new CFO of Alpiq
Alpiq Holding Ltd has appointed Peter-Wim Gerssen as its new Chief Financial Officer. The company’s Board of Directors confirmed the decision, with Gerssen set to succeed current CFO Luca Baroni at the end of October 2025. Gerssen, 53, is a Dutch national with a
background in business economics. He holds a Master’s degree in Business Science and an Executive Master from Vrije Universiteit Amsterdam. He has held several international leadership positions in the energy sector, including roles in financial management, risk assessment, and compliance. Most recently, he served as CEO and previously CFO of Shell Asset Management Company in The Hague. “With his extensive experience in transformation processes and M&A, his deep and proven expertise as CFO and his international perspective – combined with his strong commitment to value-based leadership – Peter-Wim is the ideal candidate to support Alpiq’s strategy implementation, driving both growth and stability in the years ahead,” said Alpiq CEO Antje Kanngiesser. Baroni has served as CFO at Alpiq for over four years. Kanngiesser thanked him for his work, particularly in reducing debt, refinancing, and stabilising the company.

forward to my new position at Alpiq, to the exciting challenges posed by the energy transition, and to contributing to the future of energy supply as part of a larger societal mission.”
Gerssen currently lives with his family in The Hague. His appointment is intended to ensure a smooth leadership transition as Baroni departs later this year..
