rom 28–30 May 2024, Euro Mine Expo returns to Skellefteå, Sweden, for the latest iteration of one of the most important meeting points in Europe for the mining industry. The international trade fair and conference takes place every second year since its beginnings in 2008, and provides a crucial networking opportunity within the sector, with representatives from leading mining operations attending alongside global equipment suppliers, consultants, government authorities, research scientists and investors.“Euro Mine Expo 2024 aims to become Europe’s foremost hub for cutting-edge innovations and the latest methods in mining,” says Sinnika Sjunnesson, the project manager for Euro Mine Expo, who notes that Sweden has long served as a stalwart of mining excellence, and numerous Swedish companies currently stand at the forefront of innovation within the industry. “We firmly believe that the amalgamation of a trade fair boasting over 200 exhibitors alongside a high-level conference constitutes a recipe for success,” she adds. “The conference has garnered considerable appreciation from our attendees.” This was on full display after the success of the 2022 event, Sjunnesson notes, which saw over 2,000 attendees from 40 countries take part, many in high-level capacities – indeed, event organisers state that over 50% of participants were key decision- makers and influencers. For 2024, Euro Mine Expo has set a goal to increase both the number of attendees and the representation of countries. “The wonderful atmosphere in 2022 was evident from the smiles on everyone’s faces. We noticed that many were content with the changes we implemented. We’ll retain what worked well and improve upon what didn’t meet our expectations,” she says. “However, what makes us proudest is that nearly everything was sold out – from the conference to the field trips and dinners. This demonstrates a substantial interest in participation, contributing to a fantastic atmosphere that draws many returning attendees.”
Return to Skellefteå
The 2024 event is set to return to Skellefteå, a city in northern Sweden that has long played host to

Euro Mine Expo since its beginnings, boasting a strong mining and smelting tradition combined with world-class institutions and a constantly growing industrial sector. Of course, it should be noted that the city’s nickname is literally “The Gold City”, located within the world-renowned Skelleftefältet – or ‘the Skellefteå tract’ – one of the richest mineral areas in the world, containing a rich seam of gold. Indeed, there are five operational mines within 100km of Skellefteå and a smelting operation within just 20km.
