September 2025 Issue 265 S

o far, this year has brought rapid technological development to the hoist industry, with smarter, greener and safer solutions reshaping lifting operations. As the industry continues to grow, it is marked by demand for automation and infrastructure development. In this month’s

edition of Hoist, we explore the latest trends and shifts that are setting the stage for the lifting industry. Starting with the CEO diaries, we hear from Aldo Carozzi, managing director of Misia, as he discusses his role and experience as a leader in the industry and what makes Misia stand out on page 12. There is more to hoist and overhead cranes than construction and manufacturing, as it also plays an essential role in the entertainment industry. From the stage to shopping malls, hoists hold up the scenery, the lights, the props and even the performers. On page 19, Julian Champkin investigates the specialised equipment needed behind the scenes. With a continued demand for automation across the hoist industry, monorail cranes are no

exception. We investigate this driving growth as businesses seek to optimise material handling processes and reduce labour costs on page 30. In our latest project of the month feature, the Intermodal Terminal Company has delivered its $400m Melbourne Intermodal Terminal (MIT) with seven rail-mounted gantry cranes supplied by Konecranes, soon to be the largest terminal of its type in Australia. Find out more on page 6. We hope you enjoy this edition of Hoist as the industry marks a shift towards smarter and safer lifting solutions.
