Technology drives forward COMMENT
July 2025 Issue 263 T
he hoist and lifting industry continues to evolve, driven by advances in new technology, focus on safety regulations and efforts to be sustainable. As we navigate the growing demands on this dynamic sector, this month’s edition of Hoist explores the key challenges and innovations
shaping its future. In this issue, we are excited to launch a new series, CEO diaries, where we speak with industry leaders about their lifting journey and their expectations for the future. We begin with Oliver Kempkes, managing director at KULI Hebezeuge, who shares his experience and perspective on the hoist industry on page 20. Also in this issue, we examine how the mining industry is embracing more eco-friendly practices amid calls for sustainable energy. Hoists are critical in lifting ore and minerals from deep with the earth, and Julian Champkin speaks to Björn Johnsson of ABB to understand how the hoist industry is adapting to these demands on page 30. Finally, in our Project of the month, we look at Tiger Lifting’s partnership with RiConnect, which gives them access to SupraTag RFID technology. This helps customers track equipment, store documents securely and streamline safety and compliance standards. We find out how this partnership helps customers work more efficiently and meet sustainability goals on page 6. We hope you enjoy this edition of Hoist as we celebrate the innovation and leadership propelling the lifting industry forward.
