KONECRANES | PROJECT OF THE MONTH
for its new state-of-the-art manufacturing facility in Hung Yen province, near Hanoi, Vietnam. This move is part of Makino’s ongoing
K
expansion to elevate its production capabilities, particularly in high-precision metal-cutting and Electrical Discharge Machining (EDM) technologies. Secured in August 2024, the order includes
an impressive mix of single and double girder cranes, wall console cranes, a wall-mounted slewing jib crane and a KBK workstation suspension crane – each tailored to meet the demands of modern industrial operations. With load capacities ranging from 500kg to 15t and spans stretching up to 17.5m,
onecranes has recently announced that it will supply 14 cranes to the Japanese machine tool builder Makino
these cranes are meticulously engineered to handle the complex workflow of Makino’s cutting-edge facility.
Designed for seamless, safe movement
of materials, the cranes will operate across a variety of zones within the facility – including production lines, shipping areas, showrooms, staging points, precision measurement spaces and storage rooms. Installation is already under way, with full completion expected by the end of this month. “Our experience working with Konecranes
in other countries has shown that their extensive portfolio effectively meets the needs of all areas in our production flow,” said Nguyen Thanh Hoa, country manager for Makino Vietnam. Konecranes, founded in 1994, is a global leader in material handling solutions, known
for supporting a wide range of industries with expertise and innovation. Employing around 16,800 professionals
across more than fifty countries, Konecranes plays a vital role in lifting, handling and moving essential materials around the world every day. The company recently expanded its global footprint with the acquisition of Polipastos y Instalaciones MEG (PIMEG), a Spain-based firm specialising in crane sales and service. “To increase flexibility and optimise workstation accessibility in Makino’s production area, we install wall console cranes that operate below overhead cranes on a horizontal track, improving workflow efficiency and enabling precise material movement within confined spaces,” said Mai Van Huy, ISE country director, Konecranes.
