The What Van? Award 2024 winners show off their trophies at the London Bankside Hilton hotel before Christmas
the great and the good in the light commercial industry with a chance to celebrate the best of the best in the sector just as the festive season was getting into swing.

The hotly anticipated luncheon took place on 6th December at the London Bankside Hilton hotel and was hosted by comedian and television personality, Mark Watson.
The packed venue saw What Van?, the leading independent title in the LCV market, recognise the outstanding performers in 27 crucial categories as well as reveal the winner of the coveted What Van? Van of the Year prize.
At the end of another eventful year for the industry, the occasion provided an opportunity both to look back and anticipate the coming year with renewed optimism.

In his opening address, What Van? editor James Dallas acknowledged the challenges the industry has faced, such as component shortages, the cost-of-living crisis and electrification, but paid tribute to the resilience of the sector in overcoming these obstacles. “The industry is now facing the challenge head on of transitioning to zero-emission technology,” said Dallas, “a process not helped by a government that seems to be more concerned with making short- term political gains, rather than in supporting this difficult journey. “As usual, however, the LCV sector has thrived in adversity: new vehicle sales have increased in every month in 2023.
“It is testament to the strength of the LCV industry and the resourcefulness of the people working within it that the sector continues to overcome the many challenges put before it.”
Dallas added that with an abundance of outstanding products emerging in 2023 and with the standard of entries to the Fleet and Industry awards higher than ever, it had been a tough task to select the winners and thanked his fellow judges for their help in making some difficult
decisions. The Van of the Year Award for 2024 went to the new generation Ford Transit Custom, which is long established as the UK’s dominant light commercial vehicle. The new Custom will boast the most comprehensive choice of models ever offered for the
