TRAINING & EDUCATION PORTFOLIO As a trusted provider of practical and bespoke training for pharmacists and team members, UCA-NI has developed a number of training courses specifically for the COVID-19 response in community pharmacy. Away from the pandemic, UCA developed a Pharmacy Assistant training programme delivered via a blend of remote and in-pharmacy teaching.


We are now building on our portfolio of education and training courses for 2021 with our excellent training partners:


Live/Online Training Vaccination Training – half-day programme covering the training requirements for both the COVID-19 and flu vaccination services. Vaccination Top-Up training – one-hour online course on reconstituting/drawing up the vaccine and FAQs.


Basic Life Support/Anaphylaxis Training – two- hour online course suitable for the community pharmacy vaccinators and those with a specific responsibility at work.


Emergency First Aid at Work – full-day course covering the essential skills needed for effective first aid/emergency situations in the workplace.


Essential Team Training Level 2 Pharmacy Assistant Training Level 3 Diploma in the Principles & Practice for Pharmacy Technicians


The Pearson BTEC L2 (6mth) programme and L3 (2yr programme) will commence September 2021.


Training partner Global Horizon Skills will deliver the L2 & L3 programmes with a mix of online learning and in-pharmacy tuition with assessments also carried out in the pharmacy. This provides maximum flexibility for both the trainee and the business.

APPRENTICESHIPS NI


Apprenticeship programmes are fully-funded by the Department for Economy, with attractive business support incentives paid on completion of the programme. UCA-NI has partnered once again with Global Horizon Skills to offer a range of apprenticeships tailored to community pharmacy. Training is provided through a mix of online learning and in-pharmacy tuition, with all assessments carried out in the pharmacy. It is ideal for a busy pharmacy environment and what better way to upskill your valued employees and help them contribute more to the success of the business. Apprenticeships for those aged 24 and under are offered in Customer Services, Retail Skills, Warehousing & Storage and IT.


GHS trainers provide a tailored and supportive learning environment for each apprentice and the pharmacy. UCA & Global Horizon Skills have applied to offer Level 2 & Level 3 Pharmacy Apprenticeships – we will bring you news of this development as soon as possible.


An apprentice can be a new start, school leaver or an existing employee. You will need to offer them support, on the job training, and facilitate their off the job training. Their salary should meet minimum wage rates and cover their training hours as well as their working hours. E-LEARNING PROGRAMMES UCA-NI has identified a range of easy to access training programmes to help upskill you and your employees. These one-two hour presentations on a range of business skills and awareness issues can be accessed at a time to suit the learner. Each programme has a short test at the end which the learner has three attempts at and on successful completion learners are sent an e-certificate. Each programme can be bought individually or a number of programmes can be grouped as a package of training.


Programmes on offer include: Social Media for Business, Managing Sickness/Absence, Cyber Security, Equality, Diversity & Discrimination and Presentation Skills.


There is also a range of short programmes covering areas such as Dementia, Diabetes, Autism, Learning Disabilities, Mental Health and Drug & Alcohol. Ideal for new employees as part of an induction programme.

TEAM TRAINING & MENTORING


UCA-NI has worked with Paul Murray of PCM Associates for many years and his range of team training and individual mentoring programmes are hugely beneficial.


Working Successfully as a Team is a two-part course highlighting your team strengths and weaknesses, team-building, and creating an action plan to take forward. The course is tailored to your specific business needs and is delivered in a constructive, supportive and fun way and most importantly it produces real results. Paul also offers individual mentoring and development training for employees and managers.
